La Rose Anglaise- A touch of England with a very French Twist in Terrasson Lavilledieu- The Dordogne.

For some reason Terrasson Lavilledieu was always somewhere we passed through on the road to somewhere else, a trip to Sarlat or Montignac for example, and I am very glad that on this particular July day we decided to stop off and have a look around. The town is neatly intersected by the Vézère River, with the older medieval part extended up the hill to the Abbey church of Saint Sour, We parked on a large (and free) carpark just near to the 12th century old town bridge and walked across the very sleepy river. As we walked along the riverside we saw a number of cafes and I asked a waitress for a table for three in French, “ah” she said, ” a table for three, hang on won’t be a minute” we had found Sandra, a lovely English lady from Liverpool and owner of La Rose Anglaise. It was a truly sparkling, hot July day, and we sat in the shade of the trees watching the river, and the world go by- what could be better! La Rose Anglaise offers a traditional English menu, but with a twist, the tea is served in china cups and saucers, and Sandra and her team are lovely.
